RESEARCHER: POLICY DEVELOPMENT AND ANALYSIS
All Inclusive Salary package (R): R706 152 – R822 237 per annum

Objective: The South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) is a statutory public entity, an oversight body of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Act, No. 67 of 2008. The entity is charged with developing, fostering and maintaining an integrated and transparent national framework for the recognition of learning achievements, ensuring that:
• South African qualifications meet appropriate criteria and are internationally comparable.
• The country’s qualifications are of acceptable quality.
• The quality of education and training is enhanced.
• Access, mobility and progression within education, training and career paths are realised.
SAQA’s Research and Development Unit conducts and oversees research towards an evidence base for NQF implementation and development, contributing to SAQA’s intellectual leadership. SAQA seeks to appoint a Researcher: Policy Development & Analysis to engage around, and support the development, analysis and implementation of NQF policy. Reporting to the Manager: Research & Development, this position will contribute to the integration of research and NQF policy development, critique and implementation, and contribute to research publications.
Requirements are: |
• An appropriate, recognised qualification at NQF Level 8 or equivalent. • A relevant NQF Level 9 qualification will be an advantage. • Five years’ relevant work experience in research, policy analysis and development. • Exposure to, and experience in, the field of education, training and development will be an advantage. |
Duties : |
• Lead NQF policy development, analysis, and critiques. • Ensure research ethics and alignment to SAQA’s strategy within areas of responsibility. • Contribute to conceptualising, conducting, managing and reporting on research that supports NQF policy development, implementation and analysis. • Contribute to NQF research publications. • Contribute to conceptualising and realising NQF research events. • Contribute to research funding proposals. • Compliance with the relevant SAQA policies and procedures. • Share and engage nationally and internationally with researchers and NQF stakeholders around NQF policy development and implementation. • Lead or co-lead the professional development of staff, including mentoring staff in specific specialised tasks. |
