All Inclusive Salary package (R): R1 059 105 – R1 247 574 per annum

Objective: The South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) is a statutory public entity, an oversight body of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Act, No. 67 of 2008. The entity is charged with developing, fostering and maintaining an integrated and transparent national framework for the recognition of learning achievements, ensuring that:
• South African qualifications meet appropriate criteria and are internationally comparable.
• The country’s qualifications are of acceptable quality.
• The quality of education and training is enhanced.
• Access, mobility and progression within education, training and career paths are realised.
SAQA seeks to appoint a Senior Specialist: Professional Bodies to manage the processes leading to the recognition of professional bodies and the registration of professional designations. Reporting to the Senior Manager: Registration & Recognition, this position will ensure the quality of evaluation reports and prepare documentation for the SAQA Professional Body Committee (PBC).
Requirements are: |
• An appropriate, recognised qualification at NQF Level 7 or equivalent. • A relevant NQF level 8 qualification will be an advantage. • Eight years’ relevant work experience. • Experience and exposure in the post-school education system will be an advantage. • Experience in the professional body space will be an advantage. |
Duties : |
• Manage the evaluation of professional body applications. • Assure the quality of evaluation reports. • Evaluate and submit reports on litigation cases against SAQA. • Provide advice on any external queries. • Identify trends in the processes related to the evaluation and status of professional bodies and their designations, including recognition, registration, and review activities. • Ensure that fees for services rendered by the unit have been received. • Oversee the monitoring of professional bodies and professional designations for compliance. • Manage the implementation, monitoring and review of NQF policies. • Action any decisions and manage the output of governance structures responsible for the recognition of professional bodies and the registration of professional designations. • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships. • Collaborate with stakeholders to respond to critical issues and new developments in the SA NQF and the education landscape. • Lead, guide and develop staff in the professional body sub-unit. |
