Objective: The South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) is a statutory public entity that
operates under the NQF Act, No. 67 of 2008. SAQA seeks to appoint a Data Analyst.
The successful candidate will provide data analytic and quantitative research services
to internal and external stakeholders, thus ensuring the utilisation of information
available from various databases and Management Information Systems (MIS) in
SAQA.

The most eligible candidate must hold an appropriate recognised qualification at NQF Level 6 on the 10 Level NQF or Level 5 on the 8 Level NQF, or equivalent A minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience in data analysis and the production of reports from large relational databases is required. An NQF Level 7 qualification on the 10-Level NQF or NQF Level 6 qualification on the 8 Level NQF would be advantageous. Experience of more than 2 years in environments involving multiple stakeholders and project management will be an advantage. The incumbent must have a good knowledge of data analysis, and big data principles, statistical analysis and modelling, data packages (SQL, SAS, SPSS, and Rprogramming), practices in data sciences, data mining, and project management. Problem-solving skills, data analysis, data mining and visualisation, and research skills should be among the strengths of those aspiring for this appointment. |
Duties : |
Proactively manage the identification of data insights and analytical work opportunities that support SAQA priorities and drive improved organisational results Manage the use of leading-edge analytic methods to derive insights and improve data-driven decision-making for all SAQA stakeholders and clients (internal and external to the organisation) Support data management, data quality, and completeness initiatives for the SAQA MIS that will deliver accurate, timely, consistent, and quality data Manage the planning and production of standard NQF management reports Analyse and provide statistics to assist in providing information for SAQA’s responses to parliamentary and media questions Communicate analytics findings and recommendations to stakeholders and clients, both orally and in written format Present insights at conference workshops and stakeholder engagements |
