ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

All Inclusive Salary package (R): R 541 972
Benefits: The successful candidate will qualify for a 13th cheque, housing, medical aid and pension allowance in the above total salary package.

Objective: A vacancy exists within the Directorate: Finance and Administration for a person who will assist in the management of the Procurement Administration and Supply Chain Management function.


Requirements are: The most eligible candidate must have a NQF level 6 qualification or equivalent in the field of finance and/or supply chain management
A related qualification at NQF level 7 will be an advantage
Also required are three years' supply chain management experience and knowledge of financial accounting concepts and principles, budgeting principles, Supply Chain Management Principles / Policy, PPPFMA, PFMA, Treasury Regulations (Instruction and Practice Notes).
Experience in government or a parastatal and more than three years' experience will be an advantage
Duties : The main duties of this position are to:
Assist in providing operational leadership and direction to the Supply Chain Management department by:
- Ensuring compliance with Legislation (PFMA, PPPFA, National Treasury Regulations, Circulars and Practice Notes) by maintaining and updating the SAQA Policy and Procedure on Supply Chain Management;
- Participating in financial year-end activities and resolving audit queries; and
- Liaising with internal customers and external suppliers to ensure the best possible procurement mechanism for acquiring goods and services.
Implement appropriate sourcing relationships that secure cost and value advantage at both operational and organisational level by:
- Adopting strong risk management techniques relating to the accreditations, assessment and evaluation of suppliers;
- Managing , implementing and monitoring stationery stock throughout the supply chain process and organisation; and
- Monitoring compliance of service providers on the Central Supplier Database.
Assist in the management of procurement activities throughout the organisation to ensure that activities are conducted and provided in a fair, equitable, transparent, cost effective, efficient and effective manner by:
- Recommending and enhancing Supply Chain Management Policies and Procedures;
- Developing, maintaining and enhancing standard templates to be used for procurement processes;
- Developing tender related documents for submission and approval; and
- Reviewing and monitoring scorecards for price and BBBEE in the evaluation stage to ensure compliance; and
- Maintaining and enhancing Supply Chain internal controls, etc
