ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: HUMAN RESOURCES

All Inclusive Salary package (R): R 541 972

Objective: A vacancy exists within the Directorate: Human Resources (HR) for a person who will provide the full range of human resources generalist services including recruitment, employment equity, employee benefits, employee wellness, records management and labour relations.


Requirements are: The most eligible candidate should have an appropriate recognised NQF Level 6 qualification or equivalent, with at least 3 years experience as a Human Resource Generalist.
A relevant NQF level 7 qualifications together with specialist experience in an HR discipline such as labour relations will be an advantage.
The candidate must have moderate to advanced computer skills (MS Office or Open Office packages).
A functional knowledge of a human resource information system like Sage 300 People/VIP Sage is a pre-requisite.
Furthermore excellent people skills, conflict management skills, report writing, presentation and negotiation skills are of utmost importance in this environment.
A functional knowledge of the HR legislative environment is fundamental for the successful applicant specifically; The Employment Equity Act 55 of 1998 (EEA), The Labour Relations Act 66 of 1995 (LRA), The Basic Conditions of Employment Act 75 of 1997 (BCEA as amended in 2002 by the Basic Conditions of Employment Amendment Act 2002 ),The Skills Development Act 97 of 1998 (SDA),Unemployment Insurance Act, 2001 and the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act 130 of 1993 (COIDA).
Proven experience as a HR generalist in government or a parastatel together with a thorough knowledge of the South African Education and Training system will be a definite advantage.
Duties : - Provide support to the full HR function in compliance with all required legislation and amendments
- Manage and administer the recruitment and leave management system
- Administer the approved performance management system and also the remuneration and rewards system
- Facilitate and administer the full HR life cycle of the employee
- Provide HR administrative and support services on all SAQA's employee benefits
- Facilitate and provide administrative support on all labour related matters
