DEPUTY DIRECTOR: VERIFICATIONS PROJECT

All Inclusive Salary package (R): R652 794

Objective: A vacancy exists in SAQA for a Deputy Director Verifications Project, to provide operational management of the Verifications Project. This project entails the verification of qualifications obtained at South African institutions (with particular emphasis on people employed in the Senior Public Service in South Africa, as well as applicants for Senior Public Service positions).


Requirements are: The most eligible candidate must have an appropriate degree at NQF level 7 or equivalent with at least three years experience in managing people.
Project management experience is added advantage.
The person must have a high level of computer literacy and have at least one year`s experience of working with large relational databases.
Furthermore a high level understanding of information and knowledge management, and the use of ICT in business processes would further position the candidate well
Good written and verbal communication skills together with problem solving, meticulous attention to detail and self-motivation will be some of the key considerations in making this appointment.
Characteristics of a transformational leader with clear vision and focused action would position the candidate favourably.
A comprehensive competency assessment will be conducted for short-listed candidates.
Duties : • Manage the verifications process and focus on improving efficiency and integrity of the verifications process;
• Effectively and responsively manage relationships with information partners, including locating new information partners and ensuring that communication channels are maintained;
• Assist in managing Human Resources to create a climate conducive to performance to ensure project delivery against objectives;
• Coordinate the collation of data and assist in compiling reports;
• Provide support to the Verifications Project’s strategic and operational planning and implementation, preparation of budgets, and the management of income and expenditure, in accordance with policies, procedures and legal requirements;
• Assist with developing the Strategic, Annual Performance and Operational Plan; and
• Compile required reports in accordance with scheduled activities and requests.
