All Inclusive Salary package (R): R652 794

Objective: A vacancy exists within the Executive Office of SAQA for a Deputy Director: Secretariat who will provide effective and efficient secretariat services, and access to information for the Board and its committees, to facilitate decision making, recording and communication.


Requirements are: The most eligible candidate should have an appropriate NQF level 7 qualification or equivalent in the field of secretariat and administrative services and must have at least five years working experience in providing high level secretariat services coupled with managing staff.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to organise and coordinate work and manage projects effectively, effective problem solving methods.
Furthermore, the individual should be self motivated, pay attention to detail and have the ability to cope under pressure.
A high level of proficiency in the use of MS Office programmes such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, e-mail and the use of the Internet are a prerequisite. Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), governance practices, including King Reports, preparing for audits and managing risks will be an added advantage.
Characteristics of a transformational leader with clear vision and focused action would position the candidate favourably.
A comprehensive competency assessment will be conducted for short-listed candidates.
Duties : • Manage SAQA`s secretariat function, including the document archive;
• Oversee the administrative and logistics arrangements involved with the cycle of Board and Committee meetings;
• Ensure that the Board and Committee decision and action lists are implemented;
• Develop presentations, draft responses and compile reports;
• Develop draft communiqués in respect of governance matters;
• Manage governance related Management Committee Meetings;
• Manage staff in the unit;
• Coordinate the Risk Management Register.
