DIRECTOR: INTERNATIONAL LIAISON

All Inclusive Salary package (R): R887 021

Objective: A vacancy exists within the SAQA for a person who will lead and facilitate SAQA`s role in developing a world class NQF for South Africa through collaboration with international partners on matters concerning qualifications frameworks.


Requirements are: The most eligible candidate must have an appropriate qualification at NQF level 7 or equivalent.
A further requirement is at least five years relevant management experience in international educational matters and the ability to work with senior officials from governments and international agencies.
Also required is knowledge of current and emerging global trends and best practice related to qualifications and qualifications frameworks to strengthen the South African NQF.
The successful candidate must have the ability to identify and contribute to new and critical thinking related to qualifications frameworks, a proven report writing ability, experience in project management, international education systems, diplomatic alliances and political relationships.
Knowledge of SAQA policies and procedures together with related experience in leading and managing international projects will be an added advantage. Relevant NQF level 8, 9 and 10 qualifications will also be an added advantage.
Characteristics of a transformational leader with a clear vision and focused action would position the candidate favourably.
A comprehensive competency assessment will be conducted for short-listed candidates.
Duties : • Advance the development and implementation of a world class South African NQF;
• Reporting on international comparability of qualifications;
• Lead short-term projects and actively contribute to dissemination of findings in both local and international forums;
• Prepare position papers and briefing documents on a range of educational research issues internationally;
• Work outside South Africa for limited periods to participate in regional and international projects;
• Develop and implement strategies to support development of people in order to improve directorate performance; and
• Manage the finances of own area of operations as per approved budget criteria and action any deviations that occur.
