Objective: A vacancy for a Data Analyst at Assistant Director (AD) level exists within the National Learners’ Records Database (NLRD) Directorate for a person who will analyse NLRD data and produce quantitative statistical reports. The NLRD is the electronic management information system of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
Requirements are: |
The most eligible candidate must have an appropriate qualification in statistics and / or mathematics and / or applied mathematics and / or IT and / or Datametrics at NQF Level 6 or equivalent, with at least three years’ experience in the analysis or management of data for large databases. Advanced knowledge and methodical application of MS Access and MS Excel, at high level, including pivot tables, statistical functions, filtering and graphs must be the strengths of those aspiring for appointment. Skills in one or more of SQL, OEM, SAS, SPSS are further prerequisites. Skills in one or more of SQL, OEM, SAS, SPSS are further prerequisites. Experience with large databases and an understanding of the National Qualifications Framework will be advantageous. Duties : |
Extract data from the NLRD, according to requests and specifications Analyse the NLRD data extracts by producing cross-tabulations, graphs and some text Maintain and carry out existing data-analysis reports; develop new ones according to requests and specifications Maintain and develop procedures for data analysis Plan, implement and monitor specific data analysis projects within the NLRD Directorate. |
