ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: PROGRAMMING

Objective: A vacancy exists within the Directorate of Information Technology for a person who will determine organisation needs and then plan, and develop design or tailor a system to meet those needs. Furthermore to perform such other related duties as may be required by the Director: Information Technology from time to time; will plan, develop or acquire, implement and maintain, monitor, support and upgrade information technology software. Administer multi-platform ICT environment (MS Windows, LINUX); perform such other IT related duties as may be required by the Director: Information Technology from time to time; is willing to be trained in the programming languages that SAQA is using (Java and PHP) and databases (MS SQL Server and MySQL).

Eligible candidates will have a relevant qualification at NQF Level 6 or equivalent in the IT field. At least three years experience in programming in any of the following languages: Java, PHP, C# or VB.Net, HTML5 and CSS3 is a prerequisite. Communication, problem solving, project management and evaluation skills must be the strengths of those aspiring for appointment. Proven programming experience in the Java programming language including the JSP and Struts will be an added advantage. Exposure to a wide range of technologies, including servers, Windows operating systems, LAN, WAN as well as software development platforms such as PHP and Java, and experience in database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL databases will be an added advantage. |

• Determine organisation needs and then design or tailor a system to meet those needs; • Plan, design and develop, test an implement applications based on user requirements; • Provide user training and support for software; • Ensure consistent adherence to SAQA IT and network security policy by users. |
