PROJECT DIRECTOR: VERIFICATIONS

All Inclusive Salary package (R): R 830 933

Contract Type: Four Year Fixed Term Contract until 31 March 2020
Objective: A vacancy exists within SAQA for a Project Director: Verifications to lead and manage the Verifications Project. SAQA's Verifications Project verifies qualifications obtained at South African institutions for a variety of clients.


Requirements are: The eligible candidate will hold an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification (NQF level 7) plus five years proven management and leadership experience. Senior management experience of 3 years would be advantageous.
The person must have good written and verbal communication skills, an in-depth understanding of education and training in South Africa, a high level of computer literacy, an understanding of Knowledge Management and the use of ICT in business processes.
Project management, problem solving, transformational leadership, and meticulous attention to detail should be the strengths of those aspiring for appointment. In addition experience in budgeting and the effective management of income and expenditure are essential skills.
Characteristics of a transformational leader with clear vision and focused action would position the candidate favourably.
Experience in managing information of large relational database and writing funding proposals will be advantageous.
Having an understanding of the South African National Qualifications Framework, and knowledge of the protocols followed in dealing with the organs of state, and other government and private educational institutions would be advantageous.
Duties : • Effectively lead and manage all aspects of the verifications project while focusing on continuous improvement of the systems and structures for providing a qualifications verifications service;
• Effectively and responsively manage Verification client relationships, including personally undertaking high-level verifications;
• Effectively and responsively manage relationships with information partners, including locating new information partners and ensuring that communication channels are maintained;
• Manage the Verifications Project’s strategic and operational planning, monitoring and implementation, including the preparation of budgets, and the management of income and expenditure, in accordance with policies, standard operating procedures and legal requirements;
• Write required reports and documents in accordance with scheduled activities and requests;
• Ensure continuous improvement of the verifications project in terms of efficiency and integrity of the verifications project and
• Manage human resources in accordance with SAQA policies, procedures and legal requirements.
